About the Winter Guard Program
Winter Guard is very similar to the Color Guard of Marching Season – the difference is that their show is rehearsed and performed in competition inside gymnasiums and arenas throughout the state and beyond. Having come back from a hiatus just three short years ago, we are a relatively young group, yet the Brookville Winter Guard program continues to grow in numbers and scores.
Led by a staff of highly trained instructors, the Winter Guard group rehearses two nights per week, with most weekends comprised of either rehearsals or competitions. Auditions are held the week after Marching Band has had their final show, and regular rehearsals begin the following week. The full Winter Guard season runs November through the first week of April and is a major time commitment in addition to the students’ academics. All students should be aware of that before auditioning for the group.
In addition to time, there is also a financial commitment required for all Winter Guard students. This $250 fee covers music, uniforms, props, the indoor floor, transportation, staff salaries, and more. In addition to this fee, students are also required to purchase their own uniform undergarments and marching shoes. If you have any questions regarding fees, please contact Nicole Lynam.

Guard Rehearsals and Camps
Winter Guard practices on various days and times throughout the week, depending on gym availability and group scheduling. The group also has camp dates on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season. All rehearsals and camps are mandatory unless a student has been excused from practice. For information on what might excuse a student from practice, contact Nicole Lynam.
The official Winter Guard Camp dates will be released closer to the indoor guard season in November.
